A Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) position is available to provide specialized behavioral support within an elementary school setting. This contract role spans the 20252026 school year, beginning January 5, 2026, and concluding June 5, 2026. The position is based in Anoka, MN, and offers a schedule of approximately 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, typically from 8:30 a.m. to 4:10 p.m.
Responsibilities include consulting with school teams to develop and implement positive behavior interventions and supports, conducting functional behavior assessments, and reinforcing appropriate behaviors. The specialist will collaborate with an additional BIS and the Special Education Administrator to service four elementary schools within the district. Duties also involve supporting individualized education plan (IEP) development, providing staff training on behavioral recommendations, and ensuring a safe environment. The role requires flexibility to manage crisis situations calmly and the use of data-driven decisions to promote student progress. Compliance with district policies and other duties assigned by the Director of Special Education are also expected.
Desired qualifications:
- Licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Special Education Teacher with a Tier 3 or 4 license.
- Experience with functional behavior assessments and positive behavior supports.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to implement de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
